Windows XP Pro 64bit

2 weeks ago I personally decided to try out windows xp pro 64bit due to having 4 gb of RAM and 32bit OS’s only allowing 4gig total “physical” space… Which puts me at about 3Gig in XP 32bit (due to having a good graphics card).

So, install’s done - smile on my face to see the whole 4Gig of ram showing… Glad to see theres free versions of Firewalls (Comodo) and Antivirus (Avast), so fantastic.

So Photoshop seems to be abit iffy, sometimes its like lightning - others it’s just hanging, real bad! Alot of applications didnt work too great, Had to install service pack 2 for it before anything would work. And to top it off - the latest version of Microsofts Live Messenger does NOT work on 64bit OS’s - Nothing like microsoft kicking the future in the nuts!

So am happy working away, till I add printers, the printers wont install - Adobe PDF doesnt install either because the printer PDF is not supported in XP 64bit.  So by now I’m starting to hit the EMO stage.
Anyway it comes to yesterday when I decided, hell Im going to play abit of Call of Duty 4, take a break from things… what happens - CRASH, Hangs on “Trying” to load… what next, Restart the computer, load steam again - Crash Bluescreen… What do I do now? Format the CD Drive and have XP 32bit.
I’d recommend anyone who is thinking about moving to XP 64bit to stay put with 32bit, the performance was “Lax” it’s slower in games and other benchmarks prove no vast difference in performance.
Try Vista 64 bit you may say? - I’d rather slit my wrists with a plastic razer than touch vista, its slow, buggy and takes 10x the amount of clicks to do something than windows XP.
Looks like we’re set for a 32bit OS for years to come - until something “Decent” is released. It’s all crazy, and 4GB of RAM for a working machine is nothing, next upgrade this rig will hit 8Gig, and then I will have to go 64bit… Depressing isnt it?  Technology moves so fast, shame Software makers dont!

Marking for 64bit XP Pro - 1/5 “Whats the bloody point if I cant print?, Or print to PDF with Adobe”?
