Wow. There’s nothing worse than being rejected for an excuse to have a tirade!

If you’d looked at the UKWDA website in any details you’ll see that it’s given for a portfolio of sites which I provided. However, I’ve since closed down my Web Design “side line” and so the link diverts to my personal blog site. However, neither of these sites were the reason for the award.

Feel free to go and look at the others and take the rip out of those instead… bmtg.org.uk, skycopyplus.co.uk, amonst others.

What can you say about those? But the whole point is how unorganised the organisation is, that is the bigger point.

What does it stand for?

*waves hand*

UKWDA stands for, out of date listings of web designers, and the majority of ones that are still designing, don’t know their HTML from their XML, who believes Photoshop is what emo kids use to edit their photos, and Web Standards are some sort of web banner!

Anyway, never begrudge a free backlink ;)

Ok, so I just googled UKWDA, here is why I have ranted;

“I am a member of the UK Web Design Association - the Web Standards Organisation in the UK. The UK Web Design Association is a not-for-profit organisation established in 2001 to encourage and promote industry standards within the British web design and new media sector. The UKWDA is the largest internet association in Europe and now has more than 10,000 members.

Membership is free so we are funded by a combination of sponsors and advertising revenue. Members include the self-employed through to international companies from many industry sectors, including publishing, marketing, design, ecommerce, television and education. Member benefits include an entry in the UKWDA directory of web professionals, use of the UKWDA logo on their website and marketing collateral and beneficial rates for legal advice.”

I see very few professionals on that website.

The point wasn’t that your a blog - and you in the UKWDA, My point is it isnt an URL to a Website Design Company, or anything close, along with a vast majority of websites on there, my main point is, its out of date. Listings should last a year, expire and be removed, its then up to you to submit your company again.
